I got the video to work just fine, but have not been able to capture the sound. I have been trying to use this same UCEC analog video-to-USB device to transfer 8mm camcorder tapes from a Sony Hand圜am camcorder.

I'm using Fedora 27 with kernel 4.15.3, but it should work with any current version.Īs long as the manufacturer followed the USB spec, they all should really work. It works perfectly with VLC and makes focus and pointing a breeze to do. Most of those cams have an 1/8" video out jack and I plug that into this device with an adapter.
I use it to view POE security cameras so I can see the image while I'm setting them up on their mount locations. Newer kernel versions of Linux have support for these adapters built right in so nothing extra is needed. I got this for Linux use and it works with no added software or drivers needed.
